Timeline and Matrices

Every Canadian Beatles release is the work of many subcontractors and collaborators: a plant manufactured the disc or tape, where each era features its own label design, while jackets, sleeves and shells also changed over the years, and rarely on a synchronized timeline. The tools below are designed to help collectors make sense of "what happened and when", and browse the different aspects of the listed releases in context, through time.

Timeline Tool

Pick a format, choose the aspects you want to explore, then drag the year slider or the red line to see what was in use at any moment. Click any bar for contextual details in the right panel. Follow the link for a direct dive into the related archive pages.

Matrix Tool

The matrix tool presents the same archive catalogue, but seen the other way round: every documented variation of every title, per variation type. You will find every title down the left, every label, shell or pressing type across the top, and a matrix of coloured squares that identify documented variations in the Canadian catalogue.

Click any coloured square from the matrix to reveal contextual details in the right panel.
Follow the link for a direct dive into the related archive pages. The number inside a square is how many variations fall under that type; click a column heading to highlight it, and use the search box to narrow the grid.
