The Beatles US Albums
Anniversary sets (2014 & 2024)

The Beatles "official" catalog was standardized worldwide in 1987 when it was released on CD for the first time, but for North American fans, the catalog they knew and grew up with was very different (different albums and different mixes). The desire to have these "US Albums" reissued on CD has always been felt, but were always only released as special edition sets (see The Capitol Albums Vol. 1 and 2 in 2004 / 2006). More recently, Universal produced some very nice quality sets of reissues: in 2014, for the 50th anniversary of "US Beatlemania", a CD set of all the US albums, from Meet The Beatles to Hey Jude was released, with Mini LP-style jackets, featuring both mono and stereo mixes. Although being a very nice set, this one had its load of criticism, featuring new remastered tracks from the 2009 reissues instead of the original US mixes. The box set was limited, but the albums could still be bought separately years later. Yesterday and Today even reproduced the Butcher cover with the added Trunk sleeve.

In 2024 (for the 60th anniversary), Universal produced a limited edition box set of LPs on vinyl, featuring all the 1964 US albums in MONO. The set is of very high quality, and feature the actual USA mixes, this time around. The box set is limited, but the individual albums can still be bought separately today. A special blue vinyl edition of Meet the Beatles was also prepared as an exclusive for certain records stores (see Next Entry), and a single of I Want To Hold Your Hand was released to promote the set at the 2024 Record Store Day event (see entry in the "Singles" page).
