Twist And Shout Variations List

Twist And Shout

This album was a unique Canadian release

LP.6054.7.2 | Orange 2nd generation, Dynaflex pressing, black perimeter print, ® logo

Variation LP.6054.7.2 is almost identical to LP.6054.7.1, but now has the new ® logo that was introduced in January 1975. It is otherwise recognized by its black perimeter print on the label ("Capitol-EMI") and its Dynaflex characteristics.

Availability

This variation was available in 1975 - early 1976 only (for approximately 1 / 1.5 years) when pressing operations moved in-house at Capitol's new Mississauga pressing plant (see LP.6054.8.1).

General Information

This pressing is much more common than its predecessor, and was the last variation to feature Twist and Shout in MONO. Subsequent releases from 1976 on were only stereo.

Pressing Information

Capitol of Canada most likely subcontracted the RCA pressing plant in Smith Falls (Ontario) one last time to manufacture new batches of albums, using once again its new Dynaflex technology. We say "most likely" because this pressing has an MCA marking on the trail off area, meaning this records is either a Compo (MCA) pressing, or the lacquer was prepared at MCA for unknown reasons. This album was never pressed by Compo before, so it would be surprising (and without logical explanation) that it would have been only this time around. The fact that Dynaflex and Compo pressing rings are almost identical complicates the assessment process, but the authors believe that the lacquer was probably prepared at MCA (only available provider?), and that the records were nonetheless pressed at RCA:

Cover

Early copies from 1975 feature the old light pink covers, but later copies of this variation (e.g. early 1976) features a brand new construction type: the "Wraparound" that features a single front AND back slick sheet that "wraps around" the cardboard frame like a book cover. These covers wrap from the front onto the back (unlike "front slick" construction types that wrap onto the front), resulting in NO white frame around the front image. These can almost look like a posterboard to the untrained eye, but when looking at the bottom cover, the wraparound slick can be identified where the two ends meet and wrap onto each other.

These new wraparound slicks were printed by a new company called Modern Graphics. These new slicks show a brushed out Parr's logo with a new MG logo beside it.

Finally, the legal information on the new back covers was updated, and feature the new Capitol TARGET logo and the new Mississauga plant address.

Packaging

This edition was shipped in tight shrink wrap, with or without a plain paper LP inner sleeve. These Capitol sleeves are square and have a slight curve at the top.
