Twist And Shout Variations List

Twist And Shout

This album was a unique Canadian release

LP.6054.6.1 | Orange 1st generation - RCA pressing (1972)

Variation LP.6054.6.1 was still released only in MONO. This pressing is recognized by its new orange label design with gold text and is the last pressing of twist and Shout to feature the large RCA deep groove.

Availability

This variation was available primarily in 1972 (for approximately 1 year) before the type of pressing switched to RCA's new technology: Dynaflex pressings (see LP.6054.6.2).

General Information

This pressing is slightly more difficult to find today, and was soon replaced with the newer "Dynaflex" pressing. This is the first pressing on the new orange label design.

Pressing Information

Capitol of Canada subcontracted the RCA pressing plant in Smith Falls (Ontario) to manufacture new batches of albums, this time with the new "Orange" label (1st generation with gold perimeter print). Known copies have either "-2" matrix numbers on both sides and were made by the same plates as LP.6054.5.1, or with a "no dash" on side 2, using earlier plates; it is possible that earlier plates were reused, or that newer plates were made from a previous mother.

Side 1: XEX-455-2
Side 2: XEX-456

Cover

The cover of this variation is identical to the previous variation (LP.6054.5.1), printed by Parr's Litho, with a straight inner seam construction measuring approximately 7 mm.

Again, most copies are found with a much lighter shade of pink (left: regular cover, right: LP.6054.6.1 cover).

Otherwise, the cover construction is identical to all previous variations, with a traditional front slick construction.

Packaging

This edition was shipped in tight shrink wrap, with or without a plain paper LP inner sleeve. These Capitol sleeves are square and have a slight curve at the top.
