Twist And Shout Variations List

Twist And Shout

This album would be a unique Canadian release

LP.6054.4.1 | UNCONFIRMED pressing - Green Target label

This variation has never been confirmed and possibly does not exist. This would have been released at a time where Capitol of Canada was instructed to align with the US catalogue, therefore possibly introducing Meet The Beatles, Second Album and The Early Beatles in replacement for the three unique Canadian albums (Beatlemania, Twist and Shout and Long Tall Sally). While the three Canadian albums were never officially "retired" from the catalogue, they seemed to have halted production for a short while and survived on old Rainbow stock from 1966-1969 before starting to repress them again on a steadier pace in 1971, until the late 1980s.

This entry has been created because, although none of the three unique Canadian albums were thought to exist on the green target label, copies of Beatlemania! have been discovered in the late 2010s (see entry LP.6051.4.1), opening the door to the possibility that maybe Twist and Shout and Long Tall Sally have also been produced in small quantities.

If you find a green target label copy of Twist and Shout or Long Tall Sally, please contact the authors of this website here: ironlightdesignserge@gmail.com

Availability

If confirmed, this variation would have been available sometimes between late 1969 and 1971, but no copies have surfaced to this day.

Cover

The cover of this variation would be identical to the previous variation (LP.6054.2.1), printed by Parr's Litho, with a straight 10 mm inner seam construction. Some copies could also be found with smaller 4 mm inner seams.

These copies would most likely have the lighter shade of pink as well since later copies on the red target are also found with the lighter cover in 1971 (left: early cover, right: later cover).

The cover construction would be identical to all previous variations, with a front slick construction.

Pressing Information

Capitol of Canada possibly never commissioned any copies with this label, but if they have, it would have been on a very small scale, as no copy has surfaced to this day. Were the green target Beatlemania! copies a mistake batch or a commissioned batch, it is unclear, but some copies do exist, so maybe green target label copies of Twist and Shout also exist.

Packaging

This edition would have shipped in tight shrink wrap, with or without a plain paper LP inner sleeve. These Capitol sleeves are square and have a slight curve at the top. Note** These inner sleeves were being used as they refilled stocks, so it is possible that leftover earlier sleeves were used as well.

Sales

No copies having ever been confirmed, there are no sales records for this variation.
