This EP was prepared for the 2014 Record Store Day Black Friday happening on November 20, 2014. The release was designed to promote the new mono remastered LP box set, and featured an insert flyer promoting the box set. Limited to 7000 copies, it was cut from the original analogue tapes at Abbey Road and pressed at Optimal in Germany for worldwide distribution. On the rear cover, the written by credits on A1 is given only to "Johnson", while the label credits "Johnson/Penniman/Blackwell".
