Twist And Shout Variations List

Twist And Shout /
There's A Place

45.72146.13.2 | Retro Rainbow
Columbia #2 (1984)

This variation features a slightly different label from the previous Columbia pressing (45.72146.13.1) (different text layout). This variation was also pressed by Columbia from the same Capitol master. This label variation is more in line with all the other retro rainbow reissues from 1984.

Availability

This variation is much easier to find today since it was pressed in larger quantities between 1984 and 1986. This series of reissues was part of the (almost) complete and last vinyl reissue of the Beatles catalogue before Capitol of Canada stopped pressing locally.

General Information

This pressing was part of a last global reissue initiative, and was a valiant effort in both title selection and pressing quality (in both LPs and 45s); a very nice way to end Canadian vinyl production of the Beatles' catalogue. This last series of reissues also transitioned towards the worldwide standardization of the catalogue when CDs were introduced in 1987.

For a complete list of titles released on the retro rainbow labels see Releases by Label Type page of this website, through the main menu at the top.

Pressing Information

45.72146.13.2 (Columbia pressing #2) was a STEREO release and these were made from a new set of lacquer cut from the same source as 45.72146.13.1 (hand etched matrices are identical, but has added stamped letters by "DM"), so it seems to be a second generation of stampers made from the same mother. Although the label does not state a stereo release, and although the matrix numbers remain similar to previous mono pressings, the mix found on this pressing is nonetheless a true stereo mix.

Packaging

These second generation retro rainbow pressings were most likely sold in the generic Capitol mylar sleeve.
