Twist And Shout Variations List

Twist And Shout /
There's A Place

45.72146.11.1 | Purple 3rd Generation

45.72146.11.1 was released in STEREO. This pressing is recognized by its updated legal print on the label replacing "Capitol Records-EMI" with "UNDER LICENSE BY CAPITOL RECORDS". It otherwise features the same purple label design as 45.72146.10.1. These pressings were manufactured at the Capitol pressing plant in Mississauga, and feature a bumpy ridge and a somewhat thinner perimeter print.

Availability

This variation was available between 1980 and 1983 (for approximately 3 years) until the labels changed to the retro rainbow design (see 45.72146.12.1). This is a common variation of this title.

General Information

This series of pressings was made in much higher quantities and seem to have been issued as a "global reissue" of the band's back catalogue (similar to the orange 3rd generation series). Almost all titles were reissued on this label, and it is one of the common reissues of Twist And Shout.

Pressing Information

45.72146.11.1 (Capitol pressing) was a STEREO release and these were pressed from yet again, a different lacquer cut than 45.72146.10.1 (missing the circled "2" on Side A, and a -3 on Side B). Although the label does not state a stereo release, and although the matrix numbers remain similar to previous mono pressings, the mix found on this pressing is nonetheless a true stereo mix.

Packaging

These purple label pressings were most likely sold in the glossy purple sleeve with a large Capitol logo.
