Love Me Do /
P.S. I Love You
45.5189.11.1 | 20th Anniversary retro swirl (1982)
This variation (45.5189.11.1) is the 1982 20th anniversary reissue on the retro swirl label and featured a new catalogue number (B-5189). This pressing was housed in a new picture sleeve mirroring the UK reissue single. The back of the sleeve promotes the "20 Greatest Hits" album.
Availability
This variation was pressed only once and was available in late 1982 (starting October 4, the 20th anniversary release date), and most likely sold for the Christmas season until the stock was sold out. It was never repressed in that format, but was reissued later as a regular retro rainbow label the following year (see 45.5189.13.1).

General Information
The 20th anniversary of Love Me Do saw some commemorative reissues around the world. In Canada, it coincided with the 20 Greatest Hits album, so Capitol saw a good opportunity to market both at the same time. Curiously, the single was marked as being stereo, but was in fact mono. This release featurd a new catalogue number (going from 72076 to 5189).
Pressing Information
This release was not prepared by Canada, but by Capitol USA. Records were manufactured in Canada, but from artwork and from masters sent from the USA. That indicates that it is not the usual Ringo on drums version, but rather the common Andy White version, found on the 20 Greatest Hits Album. The records were pressed at Capitol's Mississauga pressing plant, and lacquers most likely made at RCA in Toronto. Matrix numbers are as follows:
Side A: B 5189 A
Side B: B 5189 B
Cover
45.5189.11.1 was issued in a new picture sleeve mimicking the UK reissue series. The back cover promoted the Greatest Hits album. Sleeves were prinited in Canada.
