All My Loving Variations List

All My Loving / This Boy

45.72144.6.1 | Orange 1st Generation
(Gold Perimeter Text)

This variation features the new orange design labels, with GOLD perimeter print. Not many copies were pressed on this variation of labels, making it pretty scarce today.

Availability

This variation was technically available from 1972 to 1974, when the label changed to black perimeter print (see 45.72144.7.1). Although, pretty early on (around mid 1972), RCA reportedly started to varnish their labels again, making this "dull finish" variation most likely an early-mid 1972 pressing. Very few copies were pressed, and they do not surface very often.

General Information

Very few titles from the Beatles' back catalogue were reissued on this label generation (only 5 different titles have been documented). Older titles were not in high demand anymore, and titles were pressed on a need-to basis. For a complete list of titles released on the 1st generation orange label, see Releases by Label Type page of this website.

Pressing Information

45.72144.6.1 (with gold perimeter print) were pressed from the same plates as 45.72144.5.2 at RCA and feature the same -2 matrix on both sides:

Side A: 7XCE 17560A-2
Side B: 7XCE 17560 -2

This was the last pressing using the iconic font and text layout used on previous pressings. This layout and text font changes on the next generation of pressings (see 45.72144.7.1).

Packaging

These new orange label pressings would have been sold in a brown / orange target Capitol sleeve.
