Long Tall Sally Variations List

Long Tall Sally

This album was unique to Canada

K7.6063.9A.1 | Color Inlay (J-card), 4T late series.
Clear shell, Apple and XDR logos
(circa 1996-1999)

This is a unique release from Canada, and is the last documented variation of the color inlay format. This variation features a new "color inlay" (or J card) with a later "4T" longer number and a CLEAR shell with and Apple logo on both the J-card and the shell.

Availability

K7.6051.9A.1 was introduced after Capitol had switched to clear shells in 1995, and later than earlier copies that just changed the prefix to 4T. This later series has a longer catalog number after the 4T prefix, and was introduced around 1996. To date, no copies have been documented with a C4 number.

General Information

The three unique Canadian Beatles album from the 6000 series were never issued in another format than vinyl before 1982 (unlike the rest of the catalog that saw cassettes, 8-tracks, reel tapes and CDs issues), and overall, the cassette was the only other format that these three albums were ever reissued on.

This second cassette incarnation was on the "color inlay (or J-card) format", a series design by Capitol of Canada, only for Canadian Capitol cassettes.

Pressing Information

This "pressing" was released somewhere around 1996, and features a CLEAR shell with silver print. The catalog number changed to "4T 0 7777 06063 4 3" and now featured the XDR logo.

Being the black sheep of the Canadian Beatles catalog, the three 6000 series albums might have followed different rules than the rest of the lineup, and it is therefore believed that the 4T number was used intead of the "C4" number. This needs to be confirmed.

Cover

The cover (or inlay, or "J Card") was under the new unique Canadian format: the "color inlay (or J-Card)" design. The layout and design were generic to all Capitol releases, but the colors of the cards were selected to match the album's artwork, making a very colorful series when looking at them side by side.

The J-card color of this release was white, and featured a newer and longer 4T number as well ass the addition of the Apple logo and the XDR logo.

Packaging

Tapes were sold in a clear jewel case, and sealed in either a firm wrap that was folded shut, or a regular heat-tightened shrink wrap.

Both types of wrapper have been verified to be used randomly between 1982 and 1995. This variation was most likely sealed in a folded wrapper - folded differently (double flap) than previous black case wraps (single flap). See example below of a 1999 issued cassette:
