Long Tall Sally
This album was unique to Canada
K7.6063.6.2 | Color J-card (J-card), 4T number.
Black Shell with silver print. Robot Font (Circa 1990-1991)
K7.6063.6.2 is identical to variation 6.1, but the shell has the "4T" number instead of the usual "4XT". Variation K7.6063.6.2 therefore also features a black shell with silver print with the robot font.
Availability
K7.6063.6.2 was most likely introduced later than 6.1, possibly around 1990-1991 (to date, no copies have been documented with a newer C4 number, and later pressings on clear shells have the 4T number), which leads to believe that this variation was produced approximately until 1991 (see the formats page for details).
Later reissues of Twist and Shout (K7.6063.6.3 and K7.6063.7E1) as well as Long Tall Sally (K7.6063.9A.1) have been documented, but retained a "4T" number and could have been used instead of the "C4" number on the three Capitol 6000 releases (TBC).
General Information
The three unique Canadian Beatles album from the 6000 series were never issued in another format than vinyl before 1982 (unlike the rest of the catalog that saw cassettes, 8-tracks, reel tapes and CDs issues), and overall, the cassette was the only other format that these three albums were ever reissued on.
This later cassette incarnation was on the "Color J-card (or J-card) format", a series design by Capitol of Canada, only for Canadian Capitol cassettes, but this copy retained the "4T" number on the shell (but not on the J-Card).
Pressing Information
This "pressing" was most likely released around 1990-1991, and features the same black shell with silver print as the previous SDR variation, except the catalog number is "4T" instead of 4XT". This variation, like other early tapes from the 1980s (up until the mid 1990s) used the distinctive "futuristic robot font" (see the big "1" and "2"). These were later changed to a more standard font in the mid to late 1990s.
Being the black sheep of the Canadian Beatles catalog, the three 6000 series albums might have followed different rules than the rest of the lineup, and it is possible that the 4XT number was kept later than 1991, or that it used the "4T" prefix instead of the regular "C4" number. Twist and Shout for example has been later reissued with an Apple logo and "4T" number around 1995, so it is possible that this 4XT format was used a few more years later than the regular catalog that had switched to C4. This needs to be confirmed.
To further deepen the confusion, between 1982 and 1999, catalog numbers randomly went back and forth between "4XT" and "4T" prefixes. All these variations have been verified under different combinations from various sealed tapes that were unsealed to document this archive (sometimes even having a 4T tape in a 4XT J-card, or a 4XT tape in a 4T J-card).
Cover
The cover (or J-card, or "J Card") was under the new unique Canadian format: the "Color J-card (or J-Card)" design. The layout and design were generic to all Capitol releases, but the Colors of the cards were selected to match the album's artwork, making a very Colorful series when looking at them side by side.
The J-card Color of this release was WHITE.
Packaging
Tapes were sold in a black back jewel case , and sealed in either a firm wrap that was folded shut, or a regular heat-tightened shrink wrap.
Both types of wrapper have been verified to be used randomly between 1982 and 1995.
