Long Tall Sally
This album was a unique Canadian release
LP.6063.1.3 | **Asterisks** around the File Under Text
Variation LP.6063.1.3 is the third pressing and was released only in MONO. This pressing is recognized by the asterisks placed on either side of the top catalogue information on the top right of the front cover. It is not known why these were added, or what is their significance, but they only appeared once on this scarce pressing.

Availability
This variation was most likely available some time around 1965 (for approximately a few months - one batch of covers) until new cover reissues featured a darker red hue (see LP.6063.1.4).

General Information
It is not known with certainty when this variation was produced, but it is certainly before June 1966. Cover hues and matrix numbers would place this in the 1965 era, but this needs to be confirmed. It could have been produced as far as early 1966.
But the most mysterious aspect of this release is certainly WHY the asterisks were added. This is the only variation of Long tall Sally featuring these on the slick, and no other Beatles album has been found with such markings either. In any case, it was short-lived and remains a curious and interesting variation to collect.
The number of copies produced is unknown, but it is the opinion of the authors that, considering the low traction of this album in the first place, it would be surprising that more than a small unique batch was produced. The authors have personally seen at least 6 copies over the years.
Pressing Information
This third pressing is pretty much identical to the previous pressing, but was found featuring -2 matrix numbers on both sides. Capitol of Canada subcontracted the RCA pressing plant in Smith Falls (Ontario) to manufacture the records. RCA Toronto cut a set of lacquers from mono master tapes previously sent from EMI’s UK head office (most of them having been used on previous Canadian albums). (source: P. Hemmingsen, The Beatles’ Canadian Discography part. 2). These lacquers were then used to create many different generations of stampers in the years to come (in this case, a -2 copy on both sides). These copies also feature the "no brackets" rainbow label.
LACQUER NUMBERING ERROR
The Toronto lacquers mistakenly using the matrix numbers of the Twist and Shout album carried out on these later pressings as well. As seen in previous variations, the error was quickly detected, the 455 and 456 numbers were crossed out, and 471/472 were added at the end of the crossed out numbers, as such:
XEX 455 471-2
XEX 456 472-2

Cover
The cover of this variation is constructed like the previous variations: printed by Parr's Litho, with a straight inner seam construction measuring approximately 8 mm.

This cover is also built with a traditional front slick cover.

Packaging
This later edition was shipped in tight shrink wrap, with or without a red and white Capitol / Pathe paper LP inner sleeve.
