All My Loving / This Boy

This sleeve has baffled collectors for some years now. Its construction is of high enough quality that collectors believed this was an official release that had been made in Canada in very small quantities in 1964. This would have been extremely cool but unfortunately, there is no official record of this sleeve every being ordered or produced by Capitol of Canada. It is a (well crafted) unofficial USA item that was most likely produced in 1964 to accompany early exported copies to the USA (source: "The Beatles In Canada; The Origins Of Beatlemania!")

Availability

45.72144.APS was most likely been made available in 1964 when the single was heavily exported to the USA. In any case, the "original" is still a very interesting (and difficult) item to track down.

General Information

According to Piers Hemmingsen, this was most likely printed in Philadelphia in 1964 at the request of Joy Record Distributors. This sleeve was not made in high numbers, and only a few hundred copies would have been manufactured and shipped with boxes of the exported singles.

In 2016, Piers also included a limited edition NOT FOR SALE reproduction copy with some first edition copies of his book "The Beatles In Canada; The Origins Of Beatlemania!". The story of the picture sleeve is detailed in the book.

Other reproductions have been found over the years, some in color, sometimes cheaply crafted, and sometimes even with All My Loving on Both Sides.
