Beatlemania Variations List

Beatlemania!
With The Beatles

This album was a unique Canadian release

LP.6051.2.1 | "Rainbow Brackets"

This variation was released only in MONO. This pressing is recognized by a change on the label legal text. While earlier pressing prior to July of 1966 featured text that stated "Capitol Records of Canada", the new labels displayed "Capitol Records (Canada) LTD." instead. These are called the "rainbow Brackets labels".

Availability

This fourth variation was available between July of 1966 and 1969 (for approximately 2 and a half years). It is also possible that this variation was available up until 1970. This pressing is also quite common, but has been made in fewer quantities than LP.6051.1.2 since sales for older albums are usually less than on the time of release.

** Please note that this album was never released on the Apple label (which is why no entry for LP.6051.3.1 was created, and variations jump from LP.6051.2.1 to LP.6051.4.1).

General Information

In mid 1966, Capitol Records of Canada was reincorporated as CAPITOL RECORDS (CANADA) LTD. From this point on (July 1966), all new labels would feature the new corporate information. This Rainbow label remained until Capitol changed its design in 1969 in favour of the green target label (see LP.6051.5.1).

This variation was still only available in Mono, even though mono was phased out in 1968 for the regular catalogue. No stereo release of Beatlemania! was prepared in Canada until 1975.

Pressing Information

As was the case for all previous variations, Capitol of Canada subcontracted once again the RCA pressing plant in Smith Falls (Ontario) to manufacture new batches of albums with the new "brackets" label. Matrix numbers sequencing is inconsistent at this point; brackets label copies being found with a multitude of combinations, from no dash/-4, to -4/-4 and -4/-6. Numbers have been verified from up to “dash 6” (XEX 447-6). The copy photogrpahed in this entry is as follows:

Side 1: XEX-447-4
Side 2: XEX-448-4

These pressings feature the "brackets" rainbow label (see perimeter print at the bottom of the label: "Manufactured in Canada by Capitol Records (Canada)" with added brackets around the word CANADA.

Cover

The cover of this variation is identical to the previous variations (1LP.6051.1.2, LP.6051.1.3), printed by Parr's Litho, with a straight 10 mm inner seam construction. Some copies are found with smaller 4 mm inner seams.

Covers still featured the words PRINTED IN CANADA inside a box at the bottom of the back cover, alongside the monophonic playing instructions.

Otherwise, the cover construction is identical to all previous variations, with a front slick construction.

Packaging

This rainbow brackets edition was shipped in tight shrink wrap, with or without the newer red and white "ATTENTION / CAUTION" Capitol / Pathe paper LP inner sleeve.
